Happy Fathers Day Dad!

I just wanted to wish a Happy Fathers Day to my Dad, and all the other Dads out there.
I know how lucky I am to still have both my parents, but in our busy working lives we sometimes take it for granted that they will always be here and don't spend as much time with them as we should.
So today I wanted to give a shout out to my lovely Dad, I was truly blessed to be born to wonderful parents.
Last Sunday was my Dads birthday (shhhh 83 but I didn't say that) and since my Dad loves his camera we bought him a portrait kit - don't ask me what, not a clue! Hubby has to point me in the right direction if it's anything camera related. But it was a toy/gadget for him to play with (always a good idea to buy men new toys, keeps them occupied and out of mischief!) and he took the self-portrait below with his new toy.

Looking a bit serious there Dad! I bet he was concentrating on taking his own photo :)
Love you Dad, always.

  4. Sounds like fun for your dad to have a new "toy", the portrait looks great. I like the way he looks, just handsome, strict or a bit melancolic, thoughtful and varm.
    Happy fathers day.
In Norway we celebrate fathers day in november. ;)

  5. Happy Father's Day from me as well - definitely impressive at 83. My own Dad always had a camera to hand & that was his toy. Apparently when I was very small I assumed that if a man had a camera he'd want to take my photo so I would stand in front of any man who had one ------yikes that sounds positively dangerous now.
This is a lovely post Elaine.

  11. You are SO right - I lost my dad when I was only 16 y old - my mother on the other hand lived till she was 89 but didn't live to see my 50th because I was the last of her children and she was 40 when I was born. Lovely photo - nice dad. =0)

  13. Hope your Dad had a lovely day Elaine... and yes, you are so lucky to have both your parents still here - and you are right to treasure them! My Dad would have been 102 if he'd still been alive... and my mum 97! I lost both in the 1980's - and still miss them to this day.... I was lucky like you to have wonderful parents.
    Hugs

  14. Hi Elaine
WOW what a handsome young man. I think the serious photo's are sometimes the best, as a smile can sometimes look so false. And yes you are so right in what you say Elaine, about taking it for granted that our loved one's will always be around, because sadly (as a lot of us will know) that isn't the case. Hope your lovely Dad had a great day.
    BIG hugs
